We use it to watch movies in our home theater. It replaced a manual pull down that was getting wrinkled and finally broke. I upgraded to an electric hoping that the screen would not be as wrinkled and for aesthetics. Setup wasn't very easy as the paper instructions are poorly written. We had to look at the videos on-line for help. Adjusting the top space on the screen took some doing as finding the adjustment screw hidden at an angle inside the case was tricky. This could be done better. Also, the dongle to support remote triggering came with a very dead battery, so we thought it was broken for a while. It worked after applying the volt meter and replacing the battery. Lastly, after the projector is plugged in, the door to the connector just sort of hangs open. Overall the human factor was not that well thought out. Anyway, after setup, the motorized screen produces at the desired effect. Gain is better than I had and the screen is solid. I measured about 50dB from the running motor from about 1m so it's not quiet but it doesn't last long. It looks nice when the screen is retracted.

I purchased this to go with an Epson 8350 projector. The quality of the unit seems very good. The setup was fairly straight forward. I did have to re-sync the wireless trigger that plugs into my projector, but it was pretty painless. The screen came with two small black smudges in the bottom corner that would not wash off, but it is not noticiceable when watching video, and barely noticeable with nothing projecting onto the screen. The other issue I seen is that from day 1, it has a wrinkle/wave that runs from the bottom to about 1' up from the bottom. It does not really seem to be noticeable when watching videos, unless you stand almost against the edge of the screen and look at the wavy area from the side. The stopping height position was easily adjusted once I got the provided tool inserted correctly - had to wiggle it around alot before finding the correct position. The motor raises and lowers without being too noisy, and it does is fairly quickly - maybe 6 seconds or so. The picture quality is excellent and noticeably brighter than when I was projecting onto a textured wall thats painted light gray. Besides the small wave, that's not really noticeable, I do not regret getting this screen. I can project onto it in a room with a good amount of ambient light coming from a few windows, and the screen still looks very good. Colors are even brighter and bolder if its dark outside. I have had it for a month, but if it continues working great, it will be a very good buy. If no more waves/wrinkles develope, than I do not see the need for spending the extra money for a tab tensioned screen - time will tell.

I purchased the VAPEX 92 inch electric screen. Overall I am very pleased with the screen's fit, finish and overall quality. Before I purchased the VAPEX screen I researched several units that were cheaper by Elite, Mustang, FAVI etc. no other manufacturer seemed to offer the quality of construction or additional options such as mounting brackets, a wireless trigger and wall switch, included with the screen; they were available separately. The VAPEX screen arrived with everything you need. I installed the screen myself, although having a second person would have made the job a little easier. I followed the instructions to the letter, due to crown moldings I installed the screen on the ceiling using the included brackets, screws and plastic anchors...the videos online were priceless for me; it took a couple of tries to heft the screen on the brackets but it went on without a problem...the screen housing is channeled and the brackets can either slide into the channel (from either side) or be lifted onto the channel which allows the screen to slide easily to the left or right for perfect alignment with your projector. I am using a Panasonic PT-AE4000U projector with the screen. Once the screen is mounted plug in the screen then complete the alignment to your projector, once you have done that then tighten the bracket thumb screws to secure the screen to the brackets. An additional bonus the VAPEX has versus the competition; there is an extra 18 inch of material which is perfect for high ceilings; in my research the only manufacture that offered that was Elite and it was an option at an additional cost. The remote transmitters are shipped with batteries installed...couple of quick notes: the cord is extra long so no worries about the cord not reaching a plug, after my install I did need to contact Visual Apex's Technical Support for assistance setting the Trigger for my Panasonic projector which took a few phone calls...the Support Technician (Dave) was flat out outstanding, he walked me through the Trigger setup process step by step. Lastly, the picture on this screen is amazingly vibrant and bright with no wrinkles what so ever on the screen also, there are no issues watching video content even with ambient light. Hopefully this was helpful.
