The Vivitek H1080FD home theater projector features native 1080p (1920x1080) resolution, 1800 lumens of brightness and a contrast ratio of 5000:1. It is designed for high-impact picture quality, and is unmatched in functionality and performance in this price category.
The Vivitek H1080FD has a variety of I/O ports including: HDMI (x2), Composite Video, S-Video, Component Video, RS-232c and a 12v Trigger. It incorporates a DLP® chipset from Texas Instruments to ensure the digital images don’t fade or degrade over time. With 3000 hours of lamp life (standard) and noise level of 29dB, the Vivitek H1080FD is an ideal home theater projector for the mass consumer. Vivitek's new H1080FD is their latest 1080p projector, and one of the first 1080p projectors to be priced at $999. This small, bright DLP projector has a wonderful high-definition picture, solid contrast, and accurate color after some calibration. Performance does not match more expensive 1080p projectors, nor does it have the feature set to compete with higher-priced models. But as an entry point to high-definition big-screen theater, it is a good product and a great price performer.
The H1080FD has several potential uses. High maximum lumen output make it good for HD sports or video games in ambient light. Accurate, well-saturated color (post-calibration) could be useful for those wishing to display high resolution photography on a budget. And strong contrast performance is always useful in home theater. The H1080FD has its weaknesses - a 3x-speed color wheel and some user interface quirks - but for $999, it is an attractive value proposition that should appeal to first-time buyers looking to get into 1080p projection. On 11-16-09 I purchased A Vivitek H1080FD projector from VisualApex.com. I am writing this review, to let people know,of the great service ,and the ease that I experienced during my purchase through VisualApex.I recieved my order within 3 days of my order conformation. Their customer service was very knowledgeable about all my questions about this new product.Their answers to my questions were all correct and accurate(I know because I checked also with Vivitek Corp.and they confirmed all the facts I had inquired about were 100% correct!) I would recommend VisualApex to all,even my own family. (Oh ya, the projector is great too!!!)

New York - Vivitek Corp., a manufacturer of high-performance DLP projectors that is part of Asia's $5.6 billion Delta Corp., used a media visit here Monday to announce its intentions to aggressively pursue the U.S. home-theater projector market with a line of high-value models addressing key price points.
As part of that effort, Vivitek unveiled this week its latest FullHD 1080p home-theater projector - model H1080FD FullHD - which will be introduced in August at a $999 suggested retail.
The 1080p projector is based on Texas Instruments' S450 chip/light-engine design with Dark Chip II technology. [Read more]
