3D Shutter Glasses - Quick FAQ

How Do Active 3D Shutter Glasses Work?
Active 3D shutter glasses are required for viewing 3D images with your full 3D projector. These are not the simple polarized or red and blue colored glasses you get in the movie theater, but each lens is an actual LCD panel that will modulate independently from clear to opaque depending on the signal received from the projector. It is the blanking of the left and right eye based on the projectors requirements that create the 3D projection experience.

Match Your 3D Shutter Glasses With Your Projector
As you might have guessed, different manufacturers have different 3D coding and different ways of emitting the code so you have to make sure that the 3D shutter glasses you purchase are compatible with your projector. More than likely cross branding a projector with 3D glasses will be an expensive mistake.

Additional Considerations for 3D Shutter Glasses
Other considerations to make when looking to create a 3D home theater. The first is how the signal is transferred between your Blu-Ray player, projector and 3D glasses. The most common communication method is IR (infrared) which, more than likely, is most of your home theater equipment. So it is possible to experience some interference with all the IR rays bouncing around. Also, it has been noted that some people experience discomfort while viewing movies with active 3D shutter glasses. Unlike the old school red and blue or polarized 3D glasses, the active 3D shutter glasses stop and start your vision, so although it is seamless to the viewer starting and stopping vision independently on the right and left eye has made a few people feel unsettled. Also, remember that the addition of the 3D shutter glasses reduce your projector's ANSI lumens to a certain extent.
