DVD Player Recorder Formats
Are you curious about the various DVD video recorder formats? The major
formats include DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW, and DVD-RAM.
The "W" indicates rewritable, and the + and – varieties are
not compatible. The "–" variety discs are cheaper than the "+" variety, though
there is no noticeable difference in quality. DVD-RAM discs are double sided
and have greater storage capacity. They also allow time shifting, or watching
the beginning of a recording while still recording.
