The TH-50PF10UK can now deliver over 42 years of performance under normal operating conditions (6.5 hours per day of usage) or 11 years of continuous 24/7 operation. Plus, a fifth generation increase in resistance to ghosted imaging - and after an initial break-in period of about 300 hours - allows the TH-50PF10UK to display a static image for a continuous 2000 hours (80+ days of 24/7 operation) before a ghosted image might begin to appear - which is on a level akin to when LCDs begin to exhibit static image retention. And if you use the built-in screen saver functions, there's a good chance you would never see such an image appear.

Reproducing the Entire HDTV Color Range
HD sources are based on the HDTV standard rather than the conventional NTSC standard. In the TH-50PF10UK, the panel phosphor characteristics closely match the HDTV-standard color gamut. This lets the plasma reproduce the entire color range specified in the HDTV standard (ITU-R. BT709), so images are natural-looking and faithful to the original HD source.
